Public Launch in Cumbria for EnergyUnearthed Science Festival

EnergyUnearthed and partners launched an energetic Science Open Day at the Heritage site of Heron Corn Mill, Milnthorpe on 25th March. A day packed full of fun and inspiring activities that linked chocolate, springtime, eggs, wind mills, hay bales, water and electricity to generate enthusiasm for science and engineering – needless to say, we were there too with an eco-friendly ice cream tricycle on what was a lovely sunny day over the Easter period.

Contributions from organisations such as E.ON, Siemens Energy, The Royal Society of Chemistry, The Institute of Physics, and Science From The Start were exhibiting. Inter-active displays included ‘hair raising’ experiments with static electricity using a Van de Graaff generator and also generating electricity by pedal power utilising a high tech box of electronics created by Lancaster University that converted leg power into real power!
